The Getty Museum in Los Angeles, CA

Rating: You Should Go

The J. Paul Getty Museum is the kind of museum you can spend all day at (and you'll need to if you want to see everything it has to offer).  There are two locations, one in L.A. and the other in Malibu, but Nate and I have only been to the L.A. location.  There are four main
buildings (one for each of the cardinal directions) filled with beautiful statues, paintings, and artistic objects.  One of my favorite exhibits on this trip was a display of stained glass windows.  The windows were back-lit and many of them were right at eye level, allowing us to see the intricacies we usually don't get to see.  There is also a wonderful garden to explore (although we didn't get to go on this trip because it had rained that day and was closed off).  The architecture of the buildings themselves is dramatic and moving, and the view is unbeatable.  You can see the entire city of L.A. and even the ocean.  There is a cafe and gift shop on the property if you like to shop, or you can just bring food if you're planning a long stay on a budget.  Parking is provided for $15 a vehicle (so it's smart to cram as many people as you can into one car), but the museum itself is FREE  A tram is provided that takes you from the parking lot up the hill to the museum which is also free.  If you like museums or want a beautiful place to take pictures, this is the place to go.
