Muzeo in Anaheim, CA

Rating: You Might Like It

I love trying out new museums (especially as a future teacher scoping out possible field trip spots).  Muzeo is a rather small museum in the business district of Anaheim.  Instead of having several different-themed rooms, it focuses on one theme at a time that takes up the entire space, ensuring a new experience every time you visit.  When we went in 2008, the theme was Africa (which I was excited to see after having visited Africa the year before).  Right now, the exhibit is Gold, and starting June 11th it will be Chocolate (yum!).

I liked the intimate feel of this museum.  This would be a great place to bring children.  There were a lot of interactive exhibits and displays that gave an accurate perspective.  For example, I stood next to a life-size model of a giraffe (although it's neck had to be bent in order to fit in the building) and walked through a hallway designed to feel just like the inside of a slaving ship.  The tickets are $9 for children and $13 for adults (I remember there being a student discount but I don't see that online).
