Angels Game Tips and Deals

Rating: You Should Go

We are Angels fans that love to get out and see the guys play. We've gone to five games so far this year at an average cost of $12 a person ($5 up to $20 on a splurge event).

Our first trip we sat on the first base side, Lower View Level.  Lower View is probably
our favorite place to sit.  We can see everything at all times, everyone sitting around us is into the game, and the seats aren't very expensive.  Night games are alright for sitting on the 1st base side but I would recommend the 3rd base side for any day games, and sit as far to the back of your section as possible.  We went to a Saturday afternoon game, sat towards the back of the Lower View Level on the 3rd base side, and were in the sun only for the first inning.  In that time, however, every part of us that was exposed got burnt.  Definitely bring sunscreen in any case.

Upper View Level can be tricky.  Our experiences have been that it's hard to track the game (unless you have amazing concentration skills) and there are more away-team fans in this section.  People also tend to be louder in this section, usually about things not related to the game.

Sitting at Field Level is also tricky.  One of our recent trips was on a give-away night (garden gnome night) and seats on the left and right sides of the stadium were 50% off.  We sat at Field Level on the 3rd base side for $20 a seat.  It was awesome to sit so close, but it was a little hard to see sometimes because the rows are on a very low slant at that level.

Part of the trick to finding deals is to check the Angel's Website and check it often (or watch every game on TV).  Right now there's a deal for a family 4 pack: 4 hot dogs, 4 soft drinks, and 4 tickets for $44 (a really good deal if you've ever bought food at the stadium).  Stub Hub is the best for buying tickets usually (and it's one of the Angels' sponsors).  Parking is usually $10, but there's a tall glass building off of Orangewood on the opposite side from the stadium and they offer parking for $5 there.  It's a walk but it's not bad.  Also, our grandparents came with us recently and when they went to pay for regular parking the attendants gave them free Diamond parking really close to the stadium.  I don't know if that's something they usually do but it's worth a try.

You can bring in food to save money; anything as long as it's sealed in a plastic bag or something.  For drinks, however, you can only bring in bottled water in its original bottle (they didn't even let us bring in a Sobe Life Water, which is one of their sponsors).  They've started this rule about bag size, also.  You can bring in a bag the size of a regular back-pack.  They check larger bags in a box (like they do with carry-on luggage at the airport).  Keep it a little smaller than carry-on size.

As far as seats go, Lower View Level is typically around $11 a ticket and the view is great.  We've never sat in the Terrace or Club levels, and we've never sat behind home plate.  We'll let you know how those are if we ever do.
