Alpine Bakery was our breakfast stop on our way from Anchorage to Seward, and our first real introduction into how expensive everything is outside of Anchorage. We couldn't even get a doughnut for less than $3, so we decided to get pastries instead. Nate got an apple turnover and
I got a cream cheese danish. Both were AMAZING, and we could understand whey they would charge $4.50 each for offering such good food in the middle of nowhere. I also got a hot apple cider (a steal at only $2.50 a cup) that was delicious and perfect for such a drizzly day. The girl there was not the friendliest (maybe she's related to the girl from Fritz Creek) and took a really long time operating the register, but the buttery goodness of our food made up for that. I'd probably stop there again.
