ComedySportz LA is an improv group that performs weekly in LA. The shows are very family friendly, even discouraging audience members from giving crude or inappropriate suggestions by threatening to put a brown bag over your head if you do (which actually happened to my brother because he wasn't there to hear the warning). They're a lot of fun to watch and there's no pressure to participate if you don't want to.
If you had dinner in LA followed by this show, it would make a perfect date night (hint, hint). There are shows most nights, usually starting around 8pm (see website for details). Wayne Brady (from Who's Line is it Anyway) often makes an appearance with this group on Wednesdays in something called "The Made Up Game Show". The cost is $17 if you buy tickets in advance, or $19 at the door. You can also get group discounts if you're getting people together for a birthday or just have a lot of friends that want to go. We actually found a deal on Groupon for $9 tickets when we went. I had a great time and we plan on going back soon (especially because Nate won a free ticket for having the best suggestion of the night).
