Symphony on Birch Street in Brea, CA

Rating: You Should Go

We actually found out about Symphony on Birch Street while driving around Downtown Brea one day.  It was the second year the Orange County Symphony offered this free concert, and it was a blast!  We went on the second night, which featured music from movies (perfect for my film-maker husband).  We got there just when it started at 7pm, and there were still plenty of places to sit.  They actually close of Birch Street (the side the Edwards
Theaters are on) and put up folding chairs for people to sit on, so we didn't have to stand uncomfortably the whole time.  The conductor talked from time to time about he songs or special guests, and there was an intermission for us to stretch our legs.  The music was amazing and they accept donations which go to the benefit music education programs in public schools.  The experience is an education in itself, and would be a great place to bring children.  There's also stuff for families to do before the concert, such as petting zoos and music workshops (but we didn't get there in time to see that).  It was a fun an relaxing time on a beautiful summer night.  I would recommend it to anyone.
