Destination Temecula Wine Tours

Rating: You Should Go

Our anniversary weekend ended with a wine tour of 3 Temecula wineries through Destination Temecula.  There were a lot of options for tours, but we chose this one because it offered a more scenic ride to the wineries and it was more intimate (only 15 people in our group).  The tour started around 1pm with a pretty quiet
group, and the drive to our first winery was a beautiful one.  We loved seeing all the smaller wineries and large homes.

Our Before Picture
We went to our first winery, Frangipani.  Our guide took a "before" picture when we first arrived.  We had six tastings that we chose from a list, then got to choose one wine to have a full glass of with our lunch.  We ate (and did our tastings) as a group, indoors, at a large table because it was so hot outside.    It was a small family winery on a lovely vineyard.

We went to our second tasting at Wilson Creek.  This was a much larger facility, where we received tickets for tastings and just wandered around doing our own thing.  It was nice to take our time with our tastings and we enjoyed many of them (especially the Muscat and Almond Champagne).  We were not fans of the chocolate wine, however.  The grounds are beautiful, and a great location for weddings.  We also saw a lot of bachelorette groups there, if you're looking for any ideas.  We would have liked to have spent more time there.

The last winery we stopped at was Churon.  This was another small winery, but it was also an inn.  The room we tasted in was warm and didn't have a lot of seating, but they had friendly service and this great wine called Gold Nectar that we LOVED!  We also had six wine tastings offered here, but we didn't do all of the tastings.  It just would have been too much for us.

All-in-all, the wine tour was a lot of fun.  Our quiet group became very talkative by the end, so we made some friends.  We also had a very friendly and helpful tour guide who provided bottled water along the way.  This was a great first experience of a tasting tour for us and only $85 a person.
